Abstract: This article, considering the context of school expansion in Brazil, analyzed the influence of demographic characteristics, the regional context and the structure and socioeconomic conditions of families on the probability of individuals completing the five levels of educational transitions, considering eight age cohorts of the population between 25 and 64 years old. To this end, using the Pnad socioeoccupational mobility supplement (2014) and the binary logit model as a data source, it was found that white individuals, women, young cohorts, non-Northeasterners, urban residents, parents with better occupations, in nuclear and migrant families were more likely to make educational transitions. These results confirmed the hypothesis of maximally maintained inequality (MMI), as it was verified, for all regions of the country, a reduction in educational inequalities for basic education levels and an increase for advanced levels, considering mainly the University education.
