The objective of this study is to measure multidimensional poverty in Brazil, taking into account its profile, temporal evolution, the relationship between its dimensions, and its distribution among Brazilian macro-regions. To this end, the microdata from the Continuous National Household Sample Survey (PNADC) for the period 2016-2019 was used in its first interview. In methodological terms, the multivariate technique of Factor Analysis was used in order to calculate the synthetic indices and sub-indices of multidimensional poverty at the household level. As main results, we highlight the prevalence in more vulnerable groups, the reduction of multidimensional poverty in the period 2016-2018 with an increase in 2019, the low level of correlation between the dimensions that compose it, as well as the finding that the phenomenon primarily affects families living in rural areas in the North and Northeast regions of the country.
