Suicide in RN and its relationship with spatial determinants, urbanization, development and other socioeconomic factors

This work deals with suicide as a generic phenomenon with eminently economic and social effects and causes. The objective of this study is to present a brief theoretical and empirical exposition of the literature about suicide and its spatial and socioeconomic determinants and to test part of these relationships proposed for the municipalities of the state of Rio Grande do Norte, using Exploratory Spatial Data Analysis (ESDA) and spatial econometrics. In the results, clusters of the suicide rate were verified and the contagious effect was verified and in a SAR model, direct suicide relations were found with people with higher education and income inequality and inversely with the level of wealth and the dependency ratio.
